Never Eat Alone - Book Review
Never Eat Alone Leadership is all about people. It doesn’t matter if it is leading a family, a business or an organization like a church. A significant key to success is the ability to form, develop, influence and build credible relationships. In the book Never Eat Alone, Keith Ferrazzi argues that what distinguishes the highly successful leader from most other people is the way they build relationships. The successful leader doesn’t wait until they need something from someone to build a relationship. The successful leader goes about his day building relationships and adding value to each person they connect with. Ferrazzi says that its important to not keep score, it’s not simply about what you get from a relationship, but what you bring to the relationship, helping people get what they want and need. Ferrazzi outlines how to keep in contact with people on a regular basis, pinging constantly, looking for ways to help people all the time get done what they want and need done. Through out the book Ferrazzi shares the stories of people from the market place, the religious world and political arena who are among the worlds most connect persons. Never Eat Alone is filled with advice on how to meet people, how to handle rejection, getting past the gate keeper, understanding what matters most to people, how to make small talk that matters and much more. Perhaps most significantly Ferrazzi talks about the importance of following up with people. The value of writing cards, emails, making “quick touch” phone calls. Never Eat Alone is all about people and building relationships. It’s not about being a master networker who uses people…but helping people reach their dreams and God given potential. It’s about leveraging relationships so that everyone can meet their God given purpose, dreams and potential.
